Gregory-Portland ISD School Board to ask for more time to vote on Exxon/SABIC/GCGV 313 Tax abatement.

On Monday, March 6th (today) at 6PM the GPISD school board will meet at 1200 Broadway next to the new East Cliff Elementary to “Approve a resolution of the GP Independent School District granting an extension of time for action on the pending application for an appraised value limitation…” for Exxon, SABIC, and GCGV. In other words, the school board will vote on whether to ask  for more time to consider the tax abatements. It is our understanding that the deadline to act on tax abatements is currently March 28th. Both the school board and Exxon/SABIC have to agree to the extension. If the board is considering this resolution, it means that Exxon agrees and shows just how much they want these tax abatements $$$$. Exxon and their Saudi partner would much rather pay taxes on $90 million instead of $5 billion. Portland Citizens United will not hold a rally at the meeting since there is NO PUBLIC COMMENT allowed. If you decide to go, please wear red so that the school board knows you want them to vote NO to tax abatements for Exxon. If Exxon is NOT willing to move the site far from schools, then we should NOT offer them tax abatements!
