SUMMARY:TXDOT Open House US 181 at SH 35 Interchange
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this meeting is to provide information and answer questions on a proposed project to construct improvements to the US 181 interchange at SH 35\, in the town of Gregory and in the vicinity of the City of Portland. \nCitizens and businesses in Gregory and Portland should attend to learn how TxDOT is accommodating industrial growth in our area. We don’t know if it will include information on the Exxon proposed heavy haul road that will cross 181. \nThis is the second phase in a project to construct improvements to US 181 and the US 181/SH 35 interchange. The first phase of the project included the construction of an overpass at the Union Pacific Railroad just north of Gregory and improvements to the intersections at FM 2986 and Spur 202. \nProposed improvements include: \nConstruction of US 181 mainlanes through Gregory to connect to existing freeway sections \nConstruction of auxiliary lanes including on and off ramps and turn lanes\nGrade separations at Childress Street\, Sunset Road and at SH 35\nRamp reversal south of the US 181/SH 35 interchange in an existing freeway section\nWidening of roadway shoulders in existing freeway sections\nSpecial accommodations: TxDOT makes every reasonable effort to accommodate the needs of the public. The open house will be in English with Spanish translators available. If you have special communication accommodations\, need an interpreter\, or if you have a disability and need assistance\, special arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs. Please call (361) 808-2509 at least two days before the public meeting.
