The local chapter of the Sierra Club has sent a letter to TCEQ requesting a Public Meeting on the Exxon/SABIC air permit. The letter can be seen here. It is an expression of a long-standing commitment by our local chapter to address the ever growing threats to clean air and water. If you have not joined the Sierra Club yet, do so now. It is the best way to thank them for their interest in our community and goes a long way to furthering their advocacy nation-wide.
In another development, we have learned that Departmental heads of TCEQ met this week to discuss holding a separate meeting in Portland to address the pressures being placed upon local communities by the ever-increasing growth of industry, including potential air monitoring equipment. We will keep you advised as new information becomes available.
